I know it’s common to go intolabor naturally anywhere between 36-42 weeks.
What would be the reason a woman would go into labor naturally at say 36 or 37 weeks? I know the baby is done developing, but what causes some women go into labor early?
there is nothing that really causes a woman to go into labor early when the baby is ready to come out it is ready to come out there is no way to stop it
Actually, normal birth is between 38 and 42 weeks. Doctors have stretched ‘normal’ for reasons I don’t understand. However, birth prior to 37 weeks is most often caused by placental failure, infection or incompetent cervix (won’t remain closed). Various drugs (both legal and illegal) as well as smoking and apparently too much caffeine can also cause early delivery because it interferes with normal processes.
There are some lesser causes as well, not including multiples. Women who have high blood pressure, for instance, are more likely to have a preterm delivery even without interventions.
Once labor has started, there are only a few things that can be tried to stop it. Some doctors recommend trying a glass of wine as a first step when contractions become frequent. Another is elevating the hips. Once labor actually starts, some drugs are known to help to stop labor (tubertiline (sp?) is one. Magnesium sulphate (or is it -ide?) also helps but in a different way.
the baby decides that. unless there is a medical condition involved.
